So, do Starbucks Frappuccinos have caffeine in them? This is the question that I will be answering today.
Considering how popular Starbucks Frappuccinos are, it would make sense that many people want to know if they have caffeine or not.
So, without further ado, let’s get into it! I’ve compiled a list of all Starbucks Frappuccino flavors and whether or not they have caffeine.

Do Starbucks Frappuccinos have caffeine?
Yes, all coffee-based Frappuccinos have caffeine, and some crème-based as well. The caffeine content will vary depending on the Frappuccino flavor and the size of the drink.
Some of the non-coffee-based Frappuccinos also have caffeine, but not because of coffee.
Some crème Frappuccinos have matcha, dark chocolate, or chai added to them. These ingredients all have caffeine in them.

Which coffee does Starbucks use in their Frappuccinos?
Starbucks uses a sweetened coffee-based Frappuccino syrup as a coffee flavoring, which they call Frappuccino Roast.
To figure out what the Frappuccino roast actually is and how Starbucks uses it in their drinks, I contacted their customer service to get to the bottom of this. You can read the chat below:
The Frappuccino Roast is the main coffee flavoring of all Frappuccinos. However, one option has espresso added to the mix; the espresso Frappuccino.
Along with the espresso Frappuccino, you can also get a coffee Frappuccino. If you’re like me, you probably want to know whether or not this option also uses brewed coffee as its basis.
This is why I contacted their customer service again and asked that same question, which you can read below:
As you can see, the only Frappuccino that uses espresso as its basis is the espresso Frappuccino (hence its name).
You can check out this in-depth guide to see all the Frappuccinos that use coffee as their basis (and which don’t).
Starbucks Frappuccino caffeine FAQs
You might have a few more questions about the Frappuccino and its caffeine content. I’ve listed a quick FAQ section below for you to check out:
How do you order a Frappuccino with more caffeine?
There are two ways you can add caffeine to your Frappuccino. Ordering a larger size will get you more caffeine.
If you don’t want to order a bigger-sized Frappuccino, you can add extra espresso shots to your order.
How do you order a caffeine-free Frappuccino?
You can ask your barista for a caffeine-free Frappuccino. Or, you can choose one of the crème Frappuccinos, which are almost all caffeine free.
Remember that chocolate, matcha, and chai-based Frappuccinos contain some caffeine.
Which Starbucks Frappuccino has the most caffeine?
The Venti espresso Frappuccino has the most caffeine, coming in at a whopping 185mg per serving.
However, you can customize your Frappuccino to have more caffeine by adding espresso shots to the mix if you want to go even higher in caffeine.
So there you have it! The next time you’re considering getting a Starbucks Frappuccino, you can order with confidence, knowing exactly what kind of caffeine jolt (or non-jolt) you’ll be getting.
Keep in mind that the amount of caffeine in these drinks can vary somewhat depending on the size and ingredients (such as coffee or espresso shots), so be sure to ask your barista for more information if you’re concerned about your caffeine intake.
